A comprehensive assessment designed to clarify questions about emotional, behavioral, cognitive, and psychological functioning. Through a combination of clinical interviews, standardized assessment measures, records review, and careful clinical analysis, the evaluation examines factors contributing to an individual's symptoms, challenges, or concerns.
How a Psychodiagnostic Evaluation Can Help: A comprehensive psychodiagnostic evaluation can provide valuable clarity when symptoms are difficult to understand, overlap across multiple conditions, or have not responded as expected to previous interventions.
Results may be used to:
A comprehensive assessment of an individual's cognitive, academic, and learning profile. It is designed to identify strengths, clarify challenges, and provide a deeper understanding of how a person learns, processes information, and performs in educational settings.
The goal of the evaluation is not simply to determine whether a diagnosis is present, but to understand the underlying factors contributing to academic, behavioral, or learning difficulties.
Who May Benefit from a Psychoeducational Evaluation?
A psychoeducational evaluation may be helpful for children, adolescents, and young adults who experience:

Therapy is collaborative, individualized, strengths-based, and focused on meaningful, lasting change.
Every course of therapy begins with a clear understanding of your goals. Sessions draw on evidence-based approaches — including cognitive-behavioral, acceptance-based, and insight-oriented techniques — selected and adapted to fit your specific needs rather than a fixed protocol.
Therapy may be helpful for individuals who experience:

Healthy organizations are built by healthy people.
Drawing on experience leading multidisciplinary teams and advising senior leaders within the U.S. government, we partner with organizations to strengthen psychological well-being programming, leadership effectiveness, and workforce resilience.
Consultation services include:
Our practice is structured as a private-pay service by design. Comprehensive psychological assessment is a nuanced and time-intensive process. It requires careful listening, thoughtful selection of measures, rigorous analysis, and precise interpretation. This level of work does not lend itself to standardized timelines or externally-imposed limitations.
Insurance-based models are built around efficiency and uniformity. Psychological evaluation, however, is neither. A meaningful assessment requires flexibility—the ability to follow clinical questions where they lead, spend additional time when needed, and integrate findings in a way that is both sophisticated and individualized.
Private-pay care allows for a more streamlined and predictable experience. There are no preauthorizations, claim denials, or post-service adjustments. Communication remains direct and confidential, without third-party involvement in the clinical process. For many of the families and professionals we serve, this level of clarity and discretion is paramount.
Many clients elect to utilize their out-of-network benefits. We provide detailed documentation suitable for submission to your insurance carrier, and reimbursement is often available depending on your individual plan.

Clinical care coordination is billed at $250 per hour. Legal, attorney, and forensic consultation is billed at $350 per hour. Fees for testimony, depositions, and court appearances are governed by a separate professional services agreement. Assessment services are provided under an Assessment Services Agreement and Good Faith Estimate based on the scope of the evaluation.

A psychological assessment is a comprehensive evaluation that uses clinical interviews, standardized testing, records review, and careful analysis to answer questions about emotional, behavioral, cognitive, and psychological functioning. It provides clarity about an individual's strengths, challenges, and needs, along with practical, individualized recommendations.
A comprehensive evaluation typically involves an intake session, one or two testing sessions (each roughly two to four hours), scoring and interpretation, a written report, and a feedback session. The full process generally spans a few weeks from the initial screening call to the feedback session, depending on scope and scheduling.
ClariVue Psychology is a private-pay practice and does not bill insurance directly. Many clients use out-of-network benefits for reimbursement; we provide detailed documentation (a superbill) suitable for submission to your insurance carrier. Reimbursement depends on your individual plan.
Therapy sessions and consultations are listed on the Why Private Pay page. Assessment packages are flat-fee and quoted after a complimentary 15-minute screening call, based on your referral questions and the scope of the evaluation. You will receive a Good Faith Estimate before services begin.

Dr. Lauren Liu, PsyD, is a Licensed Psychologist in the Commonwealth of Virginia with more than a decade of experience in psychological assessment, clinical intervention, and the development and leadership of complex evaluation and wellness programs. She holds a specialization in ADHD and is authorized through PSYPACT to provide telepsychology services in participating states.
Throughout her career, Dr. Liu has worked at the intersection of psychological health, individual performance, and organizational well-being. Her background includes conducting high-stakes psychological evaluations, overseeing multidisciplinary clinical teams, developing specialized assessment and intervention programs, and advising senior leaders and policymakers on psychological health, risk, readiness, and performance.
Through ClariVue Psychology, Dr. Liu brings this depth of experience to three areas of practice: psychological assessment, individual therapy, and organizational consultation.
In her assessment work, Dr. Liu provides comprehensive, evidence-based evaluations designed to answer meaningful clinical questions and provide greater clarity about an individual's strengths, challenges, and needs. Her approach integrates clinical interviewing, psychological testing, behavioral data, and relevant history to develop a nuanced understanding of the whole person and translate findings into practical, individualized recommendations.
In therapy, Dr. Liu takes a collaborative, individualized, and strengths-based approach focused on meaningful, lasting change. She draws from evidence-based approaches—including cognitive-behavioral, acceptance-based, and insight-oriented techniques—adapting treatment to each client's needs and goals rather than relying on a fixed protocol. She works with individuals experiencing anxiety, stress, low mood, life transitions, relationship or communication difficulties, challenges managing emotions, and those seeking greater self-understanding and personal growth. Her clinical work is also informed by her expertise in ADHD, neurodivergence, executive functioning, and emotional regulation.
Dr. Liu also provides consultation to organizations seeking to strengthen the health and effectiveness of their people and teams. Grounded in the belief that healthy organizations are built by healthy people, her consultation work draws on years of experience leading multidisciplinary teams, developing psychological health and wellness initiatives, and advising senior leaders within the U.S. government. She partners with organizations to strengthen leadership effectiveness, psychological well-being, and workforce resilience.
Her consultation areas include executive consultation, leadership development, workplace well-being strategy, psychological safety initiatives, burnout prevention, team resilience, and organizational wellness programming. Her approach combines psychological science with an understanding of the realities of complex, high-performance workplaces to help organizations develop solutions that are thoughtful, practical, and sustainable.
Across assessment, therapy, and consultation, Dr. Liu's approach is grounded in the same principle: greater clarity creates the opportunity for meaningful change. Whether helping an individual better understand themselves, supporting a client through a difficult period, or advising an organization on the well-being of its workforce, she combines clinical rigor, curiosity, and practical insight to help clients determine what comes next.
Dr. Liu earned her Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) from the American School of Professional Psychology at Argosy University, an APA-accredited program. She completed her residency at Friends Hospital in Philadelphia and her postdoctoral fellowship at the USUHS Suicide Prevention Laboratory at Walter Reed.
